The best events during the Christmas period

The Veluwe is the perfect destination for an unforgetable Christmas holiday. During this festive period the Veluwe offers many different winter activities for visiters of all ages. Iceskating in the old town center of Harderwijk or relive the old times during the event 'Winter in de Vesting', where you will wade through the early 1900s in the city of Elburg. Get inspired for the winterholidays in the Veluwe and book your Christmas getaway!

Winterfair Garderen

Winter fair

Visit the Winter fair Garden and go, for just a little while, back in time. In the charming setting of this winter fair, you will find different stalls where you can buy beautiful winter things. Get your winter accessories here, gorgeous interior decorations or find the perfect presents for under the Christmas tree. There will be about 50 different stalls where they sell all kinds of things like handmade products, artisanal foods, and many other items.

Color the Hanseatic Cities

During the last 9 days of the year, from the 21 until the 30th of December, the event 'Kleur de Hanze' will take place in 9 different Hanseatic cities. This spectacular light event is a special interaction between people and buildings: in every Hanseatic city will be at least 1 building that is transformed into a drawing, that residents, visitors, and artists can colour and upload. During these 9 days, you will be able to see your drawing projected on the building(s). How incredible!

Winter in the fortress of Elburg

'Winter in de Vesting' is an amazing winter event in the fortified town of Elburg in the style of the early 1900's. The beautiful old town is the main decor for this event and throughout the city, there will be things to see and to do. On (almost) every street and corner you will find ladies in beautiful Victorian dresses or the poor old slobs begging for money. With all the music, dance, and theater, there will be so much to see. Don't forget to enjoy some glühwein, hot chocolate, or some of the other treats while you're there!

Harderwijk on Ice and Ice in Ermelo

From the end of November until the beginning of January, everyone can enjoy the winter fun on the artificial ice skating rink in the old city center of Harderwijk. Parents and grandparents can enjoy the lovely pavilion with a drink and a snack.

On Wednesday, November 29th the ice skating rink 'op 't Weitje' in Ermelo will open as well. Here you can enjoy the (artificial) ice and not to forget, a hot drink to warm up, in the heated skihut restaurant.

Cannenburch Kerst

Christmas market Castle Cannenburch

The cozy atmosphere on the terrain of Castle Cannenburch, this year for the 34th time! On the Christmas market, you will find many stalls with Christmas/winter decorations, foods, treats and so much more. Enjoy the music and meet Santa, who has a small present for the youngest visitors. During the Christmas market, you will have the opportunity to see the festive and cozy decorated rooms and halls of Castle Cannenburch.

Christmas tree hike

Experience the magical atmosphere in the 175-year-old Schovenhorst Estate, with its special Christmas trees from all over the world.

Sitting next to the crackling fire, in the middle of the amazing scent of the Christmas trees, you can enjoy a winter lunch, glühwein, a hot chocolate with whipped cream, or the all-famous Dutch 'erwtensoep'. The hike is on unhardened paths, so do not forget to dress according to the weather.
